Since I began my campaign, I have gone door to door every day in
an effort to meet the constituents in District 53 and to talk to
them about the issues that concern all of us.
It is apparent that everyone wants a Georgia State Representative
who is both accessible and attentive to the voters of this district.
Our present district representative was neither accessible nor attentive.
According to the March 11, 2008 Atlanta Journal Constitution, our
current district representative was absent for one out of every
three votes cast in the first half of the session and had the third
highest absentee rate in the Georgia House of Representatives. (Click

who will be there for us. If I am elected, I will work hard representing
all of the citizens of our district to improve our community and
address the problems that face the State of Georgia.
For reasons not entirely clear, during the week of candidate Qualification
(the last week of April), Ms. LaNett Stanley-Turner, our current
Representative, did not sign up for re-election. However, her sister,
Pamela Stanley (who recently lost her race as an incumbent in another
district) qualified to run against me. Pamela has recently changed
her address and is now using the same address that LaNett used to
qualify, which apparently is the home of their Mother, Ethel Stanley.
Furthermore a July 12, 2008 AJC article states that the Ethics
Commission fined Ms. Stanley $29,000 for Ethics violations.

Because there is no Republican candidate in this race, the winner
of will be decided in the July 15 Primary Election
and will run unopposed in the November General Election.
I am qualified for and prepared to undertake this job. I have practiced
law in a private law firm, represented both state and local governments,
and spent time in Washington, D.C working at the federal level.
Having received an undergraduate degree in economics and having
worked as a banker, I know the importance of spending taxpayer money
wisely and reducing government waste. I am running for the Georgia
House to put my experience to work for all the people in the 53rd
District. I hope I can count on you for your vote in the July 15th
Democratic primary. |
